Hi, my name is Samantha and I’d like to welcome you to my blog!
To be honest, I’m pretty thrilled that you’re here, what with every other millennial making a blog these days, it’s sometimes hard to get noticed. So, I guess this is the part where I introduce myself and tell you a little bit about Legally Brown…
I am a 24 year old Londoner who is currently stumbling through life, having just finished up living in bonnie ol’ Scotland for a solid 7 years. Before you ask, no, you don’t see masses of men in kilts, but yes, every other guy there is either called Hamish or Fergus. More importantly however, is the fact that I am a proud British Bangladeshi who is currently pursuing a Masters in Law at UCL, specialising in Public International Law. My areas of interest revolve particularly around post-colonial and feminist interpretations of this discourse.
Growing up as a South Asian woman in Britain exposed me to a set of interesting – but certainly not unique – experiences. I’d like to think that as a result of mixing with a diverse range of individuals, I was able to develop a more three-dimensional view of the world. This inevitably led me to become deeply interested in societal issues which impacted myself and the world at large.
I started writing this blog because I felt it was necessary for my soul. I felt it was necessary to be another voice to join the fight for equality – especially post Brexit and Trump. Although I may be one small voice, I am yet another added to the ever growing list of individuals who speak out for those who are oppressed.
So, if you care about tackling social injustices and are as passionate as I am about current affairs, human rights, feminism, law, politics and then some, you’re in the right place.
Peace and love,
